Andrew Sedman is a gifted percussionist whose lifelong dedication to rhythm and groove has cemented his place in the world of soul, funk, jazz, and Latin music. With decades of experience behind the congas, bongos, and a myriad of percussion instruments, Andrew has played with some of the most notable musicians across multiple genres. His deep-rooted passion for music and vast knowledge of rare groove, jazz fusion, and soul has made him a sought-after collaborator in both live performances and studio recordings.
Hailing from the UK, Andrew’s journey into music was deeply influenced by the early hip-hop movement, rare groove, and Latin jazz. His musical journey began in the 1980s as a DJ and breakdancer, where he developed a deep appreciation for drum breaks, vinyl culture, and the art of turntablism. However, it was his discovery of percussion that truly defined his path. By the early 90s, Andrew had become an established Latin percussionist, drawing inspiration from legends accross varied genres like Ray Barretto, Airto Moreira, Eddie Bongo Brown and The Incredible Bongo Band.
Throughout his career, Andrew Sedman AKA "Prone" has worked with renowned artists and bands across the UK and internationally. His ability to seamlessly blend percussion into different musical landscapes has led him to perform with acclaimed funk, jazz, and soul acts. He has graced legendary venues such as London’s Jazz Café and major festivals across Europe and has even performed in California, USA. With a career spanning decades in soul, funk, jazz, and Latin music, Prone has established himself as a sought-after percussionist, performing at prestigious festivals & venues throughout Europe, USA and gracing iconic venues such as London’s Jazz Café, Pizza Express Live, 229 Club, Band On The Wall, The Wardrobe & more. Having worked with an array of celebrated artists and bands including Funkshone, Fred Wesley, Soul Immigrants, The Sindecut & Ijeoma , Michael J Calhoun (Kinsman Dazz Band) , Kevin Flournoy plus Cong-Fusion, his deep-rooted passion for rare groove, Latin, Jazz fusion, and soul is evident in every beat of his music.
Since 2021, Prone has been the percussionist for Gina Sedman, contributing to her hit singles such as "My Destiny," "Eternity," "Prodigal," and "I Love." His artistry is also showcased on her last album, Valuable People, including the BBC Radio-playlisted hit single 'Smile', which was featured on Jazz FM for several months and named "One to Watch" on Mi-Soul Radio UK—some of the most notable radio stations in the UK, along with many others. Prone is also featured on Gina Sedman’s forthcoming album, Valuable People, further cementing his place in the international soul and jazz scene.

The track features the exceptional musicianship of Ryan McCaffrey from the UK jazz fusion band Cong-Fusion, who delivers a mesmerizing performance on piano, electric bass, and strings. To celebrate the release of her 1972 album, Gina Sedman will perform live at The Stables in Milton Keynes on June 27, 2025, at 8:45 PM. Fans can look forward to live renditions of tracks from the EP and the full-length album, including "In One Day," "Give Love," "1972," and "It Was Amazing," as well as fan favorites like "Smile." Joining her on stage will be an all-star band featuring Ryan McCaffrey on keys, Chris Diamand on guitar, Tiago Coimbra of UK band Resolution 88 on bass, Joe Taylor on drums, and Andrew Sedman (Prone) on percussion.
The concert will be structured into two dynamic sets. The first half will open with an electrifying performance from Cong-Fusion, the UK’s premier jazz fusion band, with Prone delivering an exceptional percussive performance alongside them. The second half of the concert will showcase Gina Sedman’s performance, where Prone will take center stage to debut his new percussion-led instrumental single, "Soul Purpose."
