Ty Juan... he's a smooth mixture of old & new, check him out

Tell me a little bit about your background. Where are you from and

how did you get started in music?

I was born in New Jersey. I starting singing when I was 5. My parents recognized

I loved to sing and so I went to a performing arts school in New Jersey. I starred in

plays and musicals. It was then I realized this was what I wanted to do.

Prior to your success what did you see as a major drawback by being a new artist?

The biggest drawback for me has always been having the right people in your corner.

Having the right people representing me and helping me mold my career.

When you have so many layers, sometimes people can try and take advantage.

I’ve learned to be a better judge of character. My circle is very small but

it is filled with people who love and care about me and we all want to see each other win.

What is your vocal range?

I am actually a Baritone but I can sing tenor and alto. I like to think I have a pretty good Falsetto.

I would say I lost an octave after contracting Covid in 2020.

What have people who had heard your music say about your vocal

style that sets you apart from another vocalist?

People love the fact that I can take today’s popular music and infuse with 90’s and early

2000’s R&B/Soul. It has feeling. It has soul.I am an indie artist who wants to continue the tradition of putting out quality music that people want to listen to .

As an independent artist, what are some of the challenges you face?

Honestly it is being misunderstood. People sometimes put me in a box and they get used to hearing certain types of music from that when I try something different, they don’t support it without even listening to it or giving it a chance. That how people miss out on great music.

How would you describe your music to those who have never heard

it before?

I am a smooth mixture of old and new.

Who are your musical influences?

Joe, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Lionel Ritchie, Fred Hammond, Eric Roberson

How do you prepare yourself mentally for public opinion (either positive or negative) when you’re preparing for a new song release?

I have a long talk with God. I realize that not everyone is going to like everything that I release so I have to take the bitter with the sweet.

What advice would you give to new artist entering the changing industry?

DON’T STOP no matter what obstacles come your way. Stay the course. It will be your time when it is your time. Know that everything you go through is preparing for “Your Time”

What other talent do you have that your fans may not know about you?

I actually write short stories and I have written several screen plays for movies and sitcoms. I have actually peeked the interest of some studios in the past but I love my music

How many singles/albums do you have out presently and what isyour favourite album/song to date?

I have 5 full length projects out to date but my latest is Mood 22 which was released on January 26 th . Mood 22 is my favorite project to date. I was able to completely be myself on this project.

Tell me about you latest album/ song and what was your inspiration behind it? Is it out now and where can people buy it?

My favorite son from Mood 22 is called “Good Love” It tells the story of how good love can be if you just pay attention to the little things. It makes loving someone that much easier.

If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be?

I have a few but Eric Roberson has been such an influence on my music that it would be a dream come true. That and a song featuring Joe

What has been your most enjoyable moment on music?

My most enjoyable moments are when people hear me for the firs time and they tell me what they feel when listening to my music. I feel accomplished even if it is only one person

Just for fun - *The Indie Post pointless question of the month* Cauliflower rice , a great thing or pointless invention?

Good question. I tried it for the first time not too long ago and I now try to incorporate in my diet at least once a week.
