Give me a little bit about your background. Where are you from and
how did you get started in music?
Philadelphia, Pa. My musical journey started at the age of five in church.
What was your most memorable moment in your music career?
Performing 8 sold out Aretha Franklin tribute shows
What was your most challenging moment?
Performing at an event at 33 weeks pregnant and not feeling well. I ended up going straight after that and giving birth four days later.
Who are your musical influences?
Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige, The Clark Sisters, Stevie Wonder
If you could do a duet and or have someone write a song for you from your favorite artist, dead or alive, who would it be?
Mary J Blige
What is the last song you’ve listened to by another artist and who are your present favorites?
Made by Rina Chanel: I listen to it everyday. Present favorites: Rina, Castella, Cleveland Jones, Showtime
What was your most embarrassing moment while at a live
performance or interview?
A guy jumped up on the stage as I was singing “I’m Going Down”. His girlfriend was in the audience and she was not happy that he did that. I sang to him but it was not in true Tanqueray fashion. J
How many singles/albums do you have out presently and are there any projects in the works?
Currently have three singles out: This Thing, This Kind of Love, Single Mom Blues. My album “Definition of a Woman” will be released end of March 2021.
What are your either weird habits or traditions before performing live or recording? I always
pray before a performance. During recording sessions in between thoughts I play the game "Township" on my phone and eat potato chips in the studio.
What advice would you like to give to upcoming artist?
Follow your heart. You are your best supporter. Don't take No as the final answer. Keep trying. Practice everyday and don't be afraid to network.
